PROMACTA is a once-daily oral treatment that you can take at home, at work, or on the go

PROMACTA is available as an oral tablet (12.5 mg, 25 mg, 50 mg, and 75 mg) and an oral suspension (12.5 mg, 25 mg) so your doctor can adjust your dose according to your needs.

Your doctor will be checking your platelet counts, but you can take PROMACTA at home.

If you or the person you care for has been prescribed PROMACTA, you should be aware of certain foods and supplements that may affect the way PROMACTA works.

When taking PROMACTA, here are 2 important things to remember:

Be sure to check the labels of your food or supplements containing polyvalent cations, such as iron, calcium, aluminum, magnesium, selenium, and zinc. 

Examples of calcium-rich foods containing greater than 50 mg of calcium include: 

  • Dairy products (yogurt, cheese, milk, ice cream) 

  • Calcium-fortified foods (orange juice, dry cereal, bread) 

  • Certain fruits and vegetables

Dosing according to your schedule

For example, if you prefer taking medication right before you go to bed at 9:00 PM, follow these recommendations:

Calcium-rich foods, medications, or supplements should not be consumed after 5:00pm
